SMS settings

1. Go to twilio.com/try-twilio and sign up with a business email (not personal).
2. Use-case: Alerts & Notifications. Role: Business owner / decision maker.
3. Skip any "we'll help you build" wizards — go straight to the Console dashboard.

Important: the Twilio account must be owned by the same legal entity you use for A2P registration in Step 3 (your LLC).

1. Twilio Console → Phone Numbers → Manage → Buy a number
2. Filter: Country United States, Capabilities SMS, Type Local (10-digit long-code).
3. Pick any available number ($1.15/mo). Area code doesn't matter much — pick one that "looks legit" (312/404/615/etc).

Write down the number in E.164 format (e.g. +15551234567) — you'll paste it in the "From number" field above.

Carriers (T-Mobile/AT&T/Verizon) require business verification before SMS sends reliably. Without this, messages get filtered or blocked.

1. Twilio Console → Messaging → Regulatory compliance → A2P 10DLC
2. Click Register a Brand → choose Standard Brand (not Sole Proprietor).
3. Fill in:
   • Legal Business Name: must match your LLC paperwork exactly
   • EIN: the federal Employer Identification Number
   • Business Type: Private for-profit
   • Business Industry: Technology or Professional Services
   • Business Address: the address on the LLC formation docs
   • Website: your tenant's site
   • Business Contact: your name, email, phone
4. Fees: ~$4 Brand registration + ~$40 vetting (one-time). Click Submit.

Wait time: typically 1–3 business days for Brand approval.

After your Brand is approved, register a Campaign describing what kind of SMS you send.

Cost: $10/mo Campaign fee. Wait time: 1–3 weeks for T-Mobile/AT&T/Verizon approval.

Once the Campaign is approved (or earlier — for testing with verified numbers), grab these three values from the Twilio Console:

1. Account SID — Twilio Console homepage. Starts with AC.
2. Auth Token — same page, click "Show" to reveal. 32-character hex.
3. Phone Number — the number you bought in Step 2, E.164 format.

Paste them into the form above and click Save credentials. SMS lights up immediately.

While the Campaign is in review, test using a verified phone number:

1. Twilio Console → Phone Numbers → Manage → Verified Caller IDs → Add a new Caller ID
2. Enter the phone, get the code via call or SMS, enter the code.
3. Create a test SpotLock case using that phone as the driver_phone.
4. Click "Send driver link" — SMS should land within ~30 seconds.

• Number format: must be E.164 (with +1 for US numbers). 5551234567 won't work; +15551234567 will.
• Pre-A2P approval: only verified Caller IDs receive messages reliably. Real driver numbers get filtered by carriers until your Campaign approval lands.
• Wrong From-number: if From-number isn't attached to your Brand+Campaign, Twilio rejects. Check Phone Numbers → Manage → Active → Campaign field.
• Driver replied STOP: SMS opt-out is sticky. Driver must reply START to re-enable, or use a different number.

• Error 21610: recipient opted out (replied STOP previously).
• Error 21408: From-number not capable of sending SMS — buy a different number.
• Error 21614: invalid recipient number format. Check E.164.
• Error 30007: carrier filtering. Most often pre-A2P-approval or message content flagged. Wait on Campaign approval.
• Error 20003: invalid credentials. Auth Token might be wrong or rotated — paste a fresh one above and Save.

If you suspect the token leaked, rotate it immediately:

1. Twilio Console → Account → API keys & tokens → Rotate Auth Token.
2. Copy the new value.
3. Paste it into the Auth Token field above and Save. Old token is invalidated instantly.

If you want to stop using your own Twilio and revert to the LaneLock-wide default (sends from LaneLock's number, no A2P setup required on your side), click Clear & use platform default. Your stored credentials are deleted; future sends fall back to the platform env vars.
